Volunteer with Haven

You’ll take blood pressure and blood sugar readings, talk with real patients, and help people find care they can afford. It counts toward clinical hours, and unlike shadowing, you’re the one doing the work.

    Come to a training

    You’ll learn to take a blood pressure reading with a cuff, run a glucose meter, and talk with patients about what the numbers mean. No prior clinical experience is needed.

  2. 02

    Sign up for a fair

    Health fairs happen on weekends around Houston. Most shifts run about three to four hours, and we carpool from campus together.

  3. 03

    Work the table

    You’ll screen patients, record their numbers on a card they take home, and help anyone who needs a doctor find a clinic that will see them.

  4. 04

    Log your hours

    Every shift is documented for your clinical hours. Because you’re working directly with patients, it counts as real patient contact.

Haven volunteers perform screenings only. We don’t diagnose, treat, or give medical advice, and we never record a patient’s health information. Readings go on a card that the patient keeps.
