Please call before you go. Hours, costs, and rules change often, and we’d rather you make one phone call than a wasted trip across Houston. If a clinic asks for documents you don’t have, call another on this list. Requirements are different at each one.

  • Harris Health Financial Assistance Program

    Benefit program

    The county program that makes Harris Health clinics and hospitals low-cost or free. Formerly called the Gold Card. This is usually the first thing to apply for if you live in Harris County.

    You must live in Harris County and your household income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level.

    Low-cost. You must complete an eligibility interview before your first visit.
    Who can go
    For low-income, uninsured individuals and families. Medicaid, Medicare, and Affordable Care Act plans all count as insurance, so they are for people who have none of those.
